The importance of keeping a workplace diary

“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.”
“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.”
Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde kept a diary so he’d never be without entertaining reading. Unfortunately, a workplace diary of major accomplishments usually isn’t as exciting. But, the payoff is huge when it comes to updating the following:

  • Adding career milestones to your résumé
  • Acing the interview
  • Conducting a SWOT analysis
  • Reflecting on meaningful job experiences

Whether you’re employed or unemployed, start keeping a journal. Otherwise, it gets tough to recall all the major projects you’ve been involved in at Company X, or the exact amount you saved Charity Y.
