The video shows many of the major Hollywood action stars telling the viewer that it is time to stop the violence with firearms, for the sake of the martyred at Sandy Hook Elementary, we must . . . give up our weapons. They speak of requiring background checks for purchases, eliminating 'gun trafficing', and bans on weapons and magazines.
The reality is, background checks by BATF are required for handgun purchases and long gun purchases these days, and those states with bans on weapons and magazines have the highest crime rates in the nation. Eliminating gun trafficing forgets the "illegal" part, but, only the federal government is engaged in illegal straw man purchases. That program is called Fast and Furious, an illegal attempt gone bad by the Obama Adminstration's AG Eric Holder to undermine the Second Amendment. Therefore, their plan is so much smoke.
The actors who speak make their money based upon illusion. They mouth lines given them by a script writer, do the bidding of the director, and, with the state of the art special effects, create illusion. Yet, what is the main theme of their movies? Death, destruction, mayhem, gratuitous violence using firearms that are the purview of the military, not street cops or thugs. They make millions off of each movie. Hypocritically, here they are in video using their image that is a product of mere illusion trying to convince us that we need to stop the use of firearms.
The individual who is mentally unbalanced and who cannot discern reality from fiction has their perceptions reinforced with this type of entertainment where violence is concerned.
What happens when this type of individual watches any of the action movies featuring these big name stars that are filled with violence and mayhem? Especially, as they start their downward spiral into their own private little world in which revenge for real or imagined slights become the motivating factor to their existence?
They certainly come away from viewing the movie with a rush thinking that they can act in the same make-believe manner without restraint or without respect to the law to resolve their problems, to get even. They may even check out of this reality for the make believe world that they just viewed on the TV or the big screen.
There is no relation between what happens in the movie and the real world. Except, that the nut cases come away with a lesson in firepower that is not forgotten. The liberal is just as bad, as they like the entertainment value, but still blame the firearms for any resulting violence in the real world.
In the movies, the psychotics learn that more firepower is better. They come away with a a shopping list for mayhem. They learn that the M16 is the preferred weapon of choice of the on-screen killer, along with a 9mm Glock or similar high capacity magazine pistol. What they don’t understand, given their delusional state, is that it is all make believe, and much of it the product of computer enhanced graphics. There is no reality associated with these make-believe scenes.
In the real world, law abiding citizens carry legally concealed firearms daily without incident. Approximately 2.5 million times each year legally owned firearms, including AR15s, are used by law abiding citizens to stop crime and to protect an intended victim from harm. Yet, it is the law abiding citizen who legally carries a firearm that is feared more by the liberal mind than a criminal with a firearm intending to do harm to the innocent.
The actors don’t relate those facts in their video, because what they are promoting will not affect them. You see, they do not live in the real world any more so than the delusional, paranoid, schizo young man who went cold turkey on his anti-depressants. The actors have armed body guards or concealed carry permits. The same for the politicians who support firearms bans. Hypocrisy is their standard: “don’t do as I do, do as I say!”
One’s rights under the Constitution cannot be revoked, rights can only be suspended by a court in the interest of the public safety. The issue then is find a mechanism that will protect the public without violating the mentally unbalanced individual’s constitutional rights.
Until there is a way to get a mentally unbalanced person’s condition onto a database and that database accessible by the authorities without violating the individual’s constitutional rights, howling about gun bans is just avoiding the problem.
If the authorities were serious about taking guns off the streets that are in the hands of criminals, they would simply enforce the laws in effect. Instead, the liberal politicians are seeking to take legally owned firearms from law abiding citizens.
How does that solve anything?
