The Hypocrisy of Accusing Chick-Fil_A of Discrimination

The Chick-Fil_A support day on August 1st has passed, but the attacks on the company have not. People are still accusing the company of being discriminatory against homosexuals for donating money to organizations that fight against gay “marriage” and attempt to help homosexuals overcome the temptation to engage in that lifestyle. People, such as myself, who support Chick-Fil_A and their willingness to protect marriage are also accused of supporting discrimination and providing business to a company that “hates gays.”

However, “hate” is not synonymous with “disagrees with.” Unfortunately, people tend to forget that you can disagree with someone’s lifestyle choice without hating them. Just as you can disagree with someone for living a life based on the Bible, and still respect them and have no hatred towards them, you can also disagree with the homosexual lifestyle without hating the homosexual.

Many companies support many different political/religious organizations, based on their beliefs and agendas. Many companies fund organizations like Planned Parenthood, which, along with possibly some legitimate practices to promote women’s health, engages in the murder of unborn children. Everyday, women go to Planned Parenthood, receiving guidance on having an abortion performed or to get an abortion. Yet there are no cries of hatred or discrimination shown by the companies that fund Planned Parenthood. Why is that? Is it because it is intentionally mislabeled as being part of “women’s health”? And where are the complaints of their hatred towards unborn children?

The problem here, is that when it is a conservative viewpoint, it is labeled as one of hate, ignorance, and discrimination. When it is a liberal viewpoint, it is labeled in such a way as to call it “women’s health”. This way, to fight against the legality of murdering babies, the ignorant liberal can say, “so you want to shut down Planned Parenthood and prevent women from getting the healthcare that they need?” Who’s going to say “yes, I want to eliminate women’s health care”?

That’s how it works. They don’t want to understand that you are against homosexuality because it is factually damaging to society and the overall health of the country. They don’t want to accept that you can have a completely different view and still not be ignorant. They say, “have an open mind. Don’t force your opinions on people.” They then say that they, themselves are open-minded, yet immediately dismiss any opposing view as one of narrow-mindedness.

Hypocrisy in politics, particularly from the left, is nothing new. Without hypocrisy, liberals in general could not say or believe half of what they believe. They could not defend their stance if they also had to do the same things they say conservatives need to do. The issue of Chick-Fil_A’s stance on homosexuality is very little to do with whether the company is discriminatory. It can be more accurately described as an attack on a company specifically and solely because it is based on Christian principles. If discrimination was actually the issue, Planned Parenthood wouldn’t be an organization so highly esteemed and described as necessary by the liberals. But that’s exactly what hypocrisy is all about. And without hypocrisy, there likely wouldn’t be any liberals.
