As a wearied traveler, I had been on the road on a cross country trip pushing over 1,400 miles in 2 days, I was seeking solace. Upon my arrival, I was immediately greeted by valet and shown to reception where friendly staff took care of my every need. I was personally escorted to a Deluxe Suite on the Penthouse floor.

After enjoying a long tropical rain shower, I slipped into a plush robe and explored the one bedroom suite and gazed out of the floor to ceiling windows offering views of the historic music city.

I perused the Hutton Hotel’s famous 1808 Grille menu and quickly gained an appetite. The menu is innovative and changes seasonally featuring New American cuisine merged with global flair. This is backed by an award winning Chef Charles Phillips and paired with a first-class wine selection.

Among the best new Nashville Restaurants, 1808 Grille is located in the lobby of the Hutton Hotel with two-story main dining areas and private dining for up to 20 people, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner daily.

Locals and travelers tout this Nashville restaurant as being ideal for romantic dinners, private dining, corporate lunches or relaxed evenings. They also cater to in suite dining experiences.

I picked up the phone and little did I know, I was about to have a private in suite dining experience that I will never forget.

What seemed like moments later, I received a knock on the door and was greeted by two men from 1808 Grille. One of them notably being the Sommelier.

Two carts entered my room. One with staged libations and another with 4 clouches (round domes that cover plates).

Each was unveiled and this is what I experienced.

Kale Saladvegetarian and gluten free with Crowder peas, dates, sunflower seeds, heirloom carrot, sherry-vincotto vinaigrette paired with St. Urbans Riesling which is light, refreshing and balanced the kale with the acidity of the vinaigrette

Pierogi – Yukon gold mash, white cheddar, sour cream demi and fried shitake mushrooms – A rich, creamy dish paired with a French oak small Pinot Noir production by Pali

Cauliflower Steak with red quinoa, oyster mushrooms and purple cauliflower puree – vegan and gluten free –paired with a buttery Ducasse white wine

Finishing with a decadent Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese frosting – paired in the concept of the adult milk and cookies with a Left Hand Milk Stout

The dishes had notes of being classical, but composed with an innovative twist. Dining on these seasonal dishes I could tell the relationship between the chef and the farmer as each ingredient was incredibly fresh and vibrant.

This was a perfect stopping point to hit pause on my life, to relax and enjoy in the middle of the country’s heartland.

I do promise to return to experience more of the city, but the above and beyond experience I received at the Hutton Hotel provided the solace I was seeking.
