In 2005, Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf coast, leaving a path of destruction; many pets were killed or left homeless in the natural disaster.
One dog, named Roxy, survived the storm, but lost her home and her family; today, she remains in boarding...eight long years later.
The following information has been shared about Roxy:
Roxy has been in the animal hospital since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She is about 10 years young. She NEEDS to be an only pet but boy does she love people!!
Roxy loves to swim, play ball & belly rubs. She is spayed & up to date. She is currently on medications for behavioral reasons because she has been in a kennel since she was saved after the tragic storm.
She currently gets only short walks and occasionally some of the vet hospital employees are able to take her to a local park & car rides, she hates going back in the kennel after having a taste of freedom. AND ... if we could find her a good home she can be weaned off the meds. I think she would be good with older children but no other pets -- she has not been socialized with other pets.
She needs a place to live out her senior years. PLEASE let's get this girl the LOVING HOME she deserves!
Long term boarding has taken its toll and it is time for Roxy to know the comfort and peace of living the rest of her natural life in a home, with a loving family.
Roxy is currently boarded in Gales Ferry, Conn.
