From a trilogy of very popular books to the big screen, The Hunger Games is set for a March 23 2012 release. The first film is based on the first book written by Suzanne Clark. There will be a total of four films in what is becoming a popular format for releasing films; take the last book and split it in half. Harry Potter, Twilight and now The Hunger Games will have four installments in its franchise.
The casting of Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bones) as Katniss has been controversial. Writer Clark is extremely happy with Lawrence, however fans have a few problems. Jennifer is 20 years-old, she looks younger than her age, but older than the 16 year old Katniss. There is also the fact that Katniss is Olive skinned in the books. Jennifer Lawrence has a very light complexion.
Ms. Clark hopes everyone will give Jennifer a chance before they pass judgement. The problem is...this film will only get one chance. If Jennifer isn't right, it would be very difficult to replace her for the next installment. Very risky, but we will see.
Check the new trailer to the left. It shows a very good assortment of scenes from the film that match up well with the book. The scenes are little clips of Gale and Katniss, the lottery drawing, the trip to the Capital and the start of the Games.
I like the trailer, but a film always put its best foot forward for a first peek. If the film is as good as the trailer, it should be a good film.
