A movie adaptation of 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins

Fans of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy have more than just the third and final book in the series to look forward to right now. While Mockingjay hits stores August 24th, a movie version of The Hunger Games is also in the works -- and we could see it hit the big screen next year.
At a Scholastic event for the series during Book Expo America last week, MTV spoke to representatives from Lionsgate -- the producers behind the movie.
According to MTV, Collins has already given Lionsgate her draft of the screenplay and it is now being revised by another writer.
MTV also wrote that Lionsgate hopes to announce a director this summer, and begin production in January. They are shooting for a release sometime later in 2011.
An extremely preliminary IMDB page for The Hunger Games is now up, though besides mentioning a 2011 release date, the page doesn't offer up any details.
Of course, a lack of information hasn't stopped fans from fantasy casting major roles like Katniss, Peeta and Gale.

This Christian Serratos looks way too foreign. And Katniss isn't the ovious beauty, she has to have distinctive facial features. That's what it is meant to be!
I would love to see Danielle Chuchran for Katniss,

And I think she would just be the perfect Katniss, she shows so much emotion I've never seen in any other 'Hollywood movie' and she is beautiful in her own way, though tough. AND SHE CAN SING!

hopfully the the movie wount change too much from the bokk sincce collins wrot the script but i know she has to shortin it a little but a lot of the book was like how hard it was to be in the woods that shoudnt take up to much time

I totally agree with Robert Downy Jr. being Haymitch and i would love to see Cristen Chenoworth as Effie i think the girl from true grit would be a really good Katniss and Sam from Glee would be such a good Peeta and Taylor Launter for Gale? Heck ya! or possibly Cato?
