“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” movie has had its first poster arrive this week to much fanfare from readers and filmgoers everywhere. Although the official title of the upcoming film — which will stand as the third installment in the franchise, as “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” — might be a bit laborious, our initial glimpse of this blazing cover image is anything but tedious. Entertainment Weekly provides details on the very cool poster this Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, and what news on the adaptation has been released so far.
As many fans of the “The Hunger Games” series will know, “Mockingjay” takes flight as the third book in the incredible trilogy. However, producers decided to make the third and final movie into two separate films (essentially splitting it into two flicks, much like “Harry Potter” and “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” has done before it). Although this method is often used to maximize profits and viewership, it also does allow fans to fully experience all that “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” has to offer.
This week, we Panem lovers are able to stand in awe of the shining new poster that Lionsgate Entertainment has recently made public. Sporting a direct mockingjay image with wings of fire spread, the image certainly seems to point to our protagonist Katniss Everdeen preparing to stand against the Capitol (even if she is rather coerced into it, initially). The poster itself may remind many fans of the “Catching Fire” original motion picture poster, while even “The Hunger Games” movie had a blazing mockingjay pin to promote the first film adaptation.
Nonetheless, the image reveals how we have in fact come full circle, from Katniss Everdeen beginning as a girl from District 12 to a national icon for freedom and hope now. With the third installment having a release date in Nov. 2014, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” can’t come soon enough for many fellow fans.
And, as always, may the odds be ever in your favor.
