Fans of The Hunger Games are eagerly tuning in to the archery competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, now underway after a spectacular opening ceremony that included a tribute to British children's literature.
The Hunger Games, along with fellow blockbuster movies Brave and The Avengers, helped spark a huge boost of interest in archery among teens, especially young women. Now the sport is getting extra attention at the Summer Olympics.
In fact, Khatuna Lorig, one of the competitors in this year's archery competition at the Olympics, actually trained Jennifer Lawrence for her role as Katniss in The Hunger Games. Lorig previously won a bronze medal for Women's Team Archery at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
"Jennifer was a very fast learner and a good listener too," Lorig told Elle Girl magazine recently. "She has a fun personality and was easy to work with every day. She was good at acting like she had been shooting for years."
