Fans of the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie are privy to a slew of brand new photos of the cast this week straight from Lionsgate Entertainment, and the tributes look ready for the Third Quarter Quell, to say the least. With “Catching Fire” hitting U.S. theaters on Nov. 22 and preparations for “Mockingjay: Parts 1 and 2” already underway, followers of Panem have a lot to look forward to, and these latest pictures give a great idea of what’s to come, ScreenCrush.com reports this Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The new “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” film photos released from Lionsgate (courtesy of Kino Gallery) reveal a wide array of cast members, including many of the returning tributes and our favorite leads, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). With another Hunger Games arriving and the 75th Annual round on its way, decisions will be made as Katniss and Peeta once again fight for their lives and stand up to the Capitol.
The official synopsis for “Catching Fire” reads as:
“Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
Progress for “Mockingjay: Parts 1 and 2” is already underway, though filming is a ways off. New cast members are being revealed every few weeks ago (“GOT’s” Natalie Dormer playing Cressida was warmly received by many fans). “Mockingjay” is most recently looking for extremely thin cast members in a casting call.
