On March 4, Lionsgate released the first photo in a series focusing on characters from “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Effie Trinket, played by Elizabeth Banks, is the subject of the first of what is being called Capitol Portraits.
Using its Facebook site and Instagram, Lionsgate launched Capitol Couture in order to introduce the character portraits. The marketing campaign is carefully made up to look like the website for a high fashion and culture magazine for Panem, from its artsy still-images to its .pn URL.
So who better to grace the inaugural, spring issue of Capitol Couture than Effie Trinket, the fashion-forward handler for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson)? It describes Effie’s look:
“Head to heel in couture, Effie enchants in an exploding silhouette of chiffon and organza blooms. Never one to waver in her fashionable footwear, her heel-less boots are shod with a golden horse-shoe platform.”
It’s only the first of many portraits yet to be seen, with a clock providing a countdown to the next release.
Of course, fans of “The Hunger Games” interested in its sequel can keep up to date with the latest images by subscribing to Capitol Couture and share their favorite looks via social media – all part of the Lionsgate’s objective of helping “Catching Fire” catch fire.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” also stars Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, and Amanda Plummer, among others. The movie is slated for release Nov. 22.
