'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and "Mockingjay' to be released

Based on the novel, “Catching Fire” by Suzanne Collins, the upcoming sci-fi film is the second to come in the trilogy of books. “The Hunger Games” produced such a following of the story that a second movie was bound to follow.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is scheduled to be released to theaters on November 22, 2013.

The screenplay of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” is being written by Michael Arndt and Simon Beaufoy.

Jennifer Lawrence is taking her rightful place in the second feature, as she did the first, as Katniss Everdeen. Francis Lawrence will be behind the scenes, directing in place of Gary Ross of the first in the franchise. Ross directed and was co-writer on the first of the series.

The success of the first of the trilogy was beyond regular sci-fi material presentations. Ross definitely began a following of fans and an outstanding film addition to the sci-fi genre. Lawrence’s sequel holds all promise of being just as amazing, if not better, with tons more action, excitement and the display of elaborate sets.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” involves the further chaotic lifestyles of Katniss and Peeta as residents in District 12. Katniss Everdeen prepares herself for the Quarter Quell. Katniss and Peeta have returned home safe from the victory at the 74th Annual Hunger Games. They find they have to immediately take leave to go on a “Victor’s Tour” in all the districts.

Just as the two are working hard to prepare for the next victory, Katniss has a strong sense that something is amiss. She feels a rebellion coming, against the Capitol and President Snow.

The competition at the 75th Annual Hunger Games is going to be a defining moment for the two and for the future of Panem.

Cast members include Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Helmsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy and Donald Sutherland as President Snow. The list of amazing actors who brought the first “Hunger Games” to life will do so again in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

Lionsgate has also announced that the third installment of the series will be split into two separate films. The third film, “Mockingjay” will have the first part of the story released on November 21, 2014 and the second part will be released on November 20, 2015.

It is confirmed that Francis Lawrence will be directing the final two films. The two parts are to be filmed one after the other. Danny Strong will be writing the third and fourth films.
