The Hudepohl 14K Brewery Run

Anyone who's experienced a hangover after a night of imbibing, knows that the next day isn't nearly as enjoyable as the shenanigans that ensued the evening prior. The dreaded "aftereffect" usually makes one more apt to grab any carb-filled, grease-laden cuisine in sight, not prance around the neighborhood for an energetic jog. But, washing down a cheese coney with an ice cold domestic brew after a long run? Yep, I think most people can handle that.

The Hudepohl 14K Brewery Run is Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Hudepohl Brewery. Whether you're looking for a fun Cincinnati road race, or just looking to party, this unique event has something for everyone.

The beer may be flowing like wine, but there are two race distances for runners and walkers of all ages:

  • 14K - 8 a.m. - $45 (until September 11) and $55 during race week
  • 7K - 8.m., price $35 (until September 11) and $45 during race week

Both courses begin and end at the Hudepohl Brewery and travel throughout scenic downtown Cincinnati and the historic Brewery District in Over-The-Rhine.

All preregistered participants will receive a Saucony technical T-shirt (orange for men and female sizes in pink), goodie bag, and a "special gift." All finishers will be awarded with a medal. The post-race reception includes an array of foods from local eateries, including Gold Star, Queen City Sausage, DOJO Gelato, Taste of Belgium, and other local/national partners. Participants of legal drinking age are welcome to enjoy Cincinnati's own Hudy Delight in the beir garden area.

There may not be any scientific proof that alcoholic beverages aid in race recovery, but carbs--well, of the healthy variety--are always encouraged in a post-workout meal. Regardless, it's always nice to have a little extra motivation to make a mad dash across the finish line. Bottoms up!
