A disturbing and frightening trend emerged on the Howard Stern Show this week, as the King of All Media and his crew turned in their third three day week in a row, fueling rumors that HSS has permanently switched to a 3-day live show per week schedule.

Stern has been alternating three and four day live show weeks for the past few months, warning fans that an eventual permanent 3-day week was on its way, but has refused to make an official announcement on his schedule. He has publicly stated that he will "never" release his official live show schedule because he wants subscribers to keep tuning in even when clip shows and repeats are broadcast.

Some fans hoped that the three day week the Howard Stern Show delivered after Labor Day was a special case due to the holiday, but after two additional weeks of waking up hopeful on Thursday mornings, HSS fans have been greeted with "Best of the Week" shows instead of live content.
Additional evidence that hearing HSS live four times a week is a thing of the past? During Howard Stern's phone interview with William Shatner this week, the Star Trek icon asked Stern how many live shows he does weekly and Stern stated "three".
Stern re-upped with Sirius XM for a new five year contract at the end of 2010. It is believed that Howard Stern took a significant pay cut from his previous $100 million/year salary in exchange for more vacation time.
