The Howard Stern Michael Jackson interview that got away

On Wednesday morning’s edition of The Howard Stern Show, “King of All Cultural Commentary” Howard Stern was treated to a trip down Memory Loss Lane.  A faithful listener sent The Howard Stern Show a clip from a recent podcast featuring Howard Stern’s former publicist Dan Klores.  During the podcast, Klores discussed Howard Stern’s previous plans to conduct a two-hour network interview with the now deceased King of All Pop, Michael Jackson.

Klores stated that while he was managing Howard Stern’s public persona, Stern pitched him the idea about the exclusive network interview with Michael Jackson and provided details about stunts that Howard Stern planned for the show.  Klores claimed that Howard Stern intended to test Michael Jackson’s level of homosexuality by having him examine and express his level of attraction to three different beautiful women, and one young boy.

The problem (or one of them anyway) is that Howard Stern claims to have absolutely no recollection of the Michael Jackson interview pitch ever taking place.  “It’s very possible that I did that,” stated Howard Stern with a hint of age-related dementia in his voice.  Fred Norris rushed to defend the aging King of All Media: “That doesn’t sound like you.”

Howard Stern says that he’ll be checking with his agent Don Buchwald to find out if there’s any record of the pitch for the Michael Jackson Howard Stern interview extravaganza ever going down.  In the meantime, gingko biloba manufacturers may be contacting Howard Stern with free samples.

When Stern got that clip from the listener did he also harken back to the good old days when he actually put on a quality show and spent some time and effort doing it? The dribble he has today is embarrassing. In fact, this set up was courtesy of a listener and not even by his crack staff or Stern himself. Another great effort. Well at least it's Thursday and tomorrow's a day off for another long weekend. And soon enough another lengthy vacation will be upon us. Anything else Robin?
