According to Comic Book Movie on Dec. 15, a brand new TV spot for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is now available for viewing. The clip is more about what critics are saying about the Peter Jackson film.
New footage in the clip is also displayed. For instance, there's a brief moment where Bilbo is eye to eye with the beast Smaug as well as the dragon spouting fire in what appears to be the small hidden entry way at Lonely Mountain. The voice of Smaug is portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. Also, quite a few people and critics have claimed this to be a more "thrilling and powerful than the first". Also, technologically speaking, the frame rate in this film to also to be at a higher frame rate than the previous and director Peter Jackson claims that this improves the viewing pleasure of 3D.
Cumberbatch, known for his role in "Star Trek Into Darkness" as the villain Khan, makes a significant impact on the voice of Smaug and also proved to be quite a challenge to portray a lizard as opposed to a genetically enhanced human like Khan.
