The initial entry into Christmas Town, USA will fill your car, ears, and heart with ‘The Sound of Music’ as you listen to church bells and a saxophone playing Christmas tunes. Children peering from car sunroofs will wish you a ‘Merry Christmas’ as you drive or walk through the town between the hours of 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Switch from car lights to parking lights for everyone’s complete visual satisfaction. Roll down your windows if you are staying in your car to experience all the sounds and the feel of the season.
Every year is different at McAdenville because the trees get a little bigger, making the light displays a little taller. But some things never change in McAdenville, such as keeping the true meaning of Christmas evident –the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. See the decorated and seasoned churches in the town as you tour the marvelous Christmas lights.
It is quite a walk for preschoolers, so you may plan to drive most of the way or bring a wagon to pull your young children past the beautifully decorated homes and lake where decorated trees reflect and a lighted fountain sprays near Santa. One suggestion is to drive to the center of town, park at a local restaurant, have dinner and hot chocolate for the preschoolers, get out the wagon, and pull them a ways through the town before returning to your car to drive out the other end of town.
According the official website, this is the 58th year the town has displayed the Christmas lights, which are ranked #7 in Yahoo’s top ten best Christmas attractions. The lights were founded by the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Pharr of Pharr Yarns.
