The Heavy Pets, a Florida jam band based in Ft. Lauderdale, will be opening for Umphrey’s McGee this Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL. They move crowds with their blend of funk, jazz, rock & roll and R&B Jeff Lloyd, guitarist for Heavy Pets says “we are excited to get back to House of Blues in Orlando; it’s been a long time for us”!
Their 1000th scheduled show will occur within the next two months. Busy guys like this don’t have time to stop! They have been working on a new EP, which allows them to focus on a few songs at a time while keeping a rigorous touring schedule. Their next EP set to come out this September is Stolen Smiles.
The Heavy Pets have become Floridians after they transplanted here from the Northeast in 2004. Though the music scene in South Florida was still young at the time, they saw the potential and made this place home. “To play for two nights in Florida with them (Umphrey’s McGee) is really exciting. We have an incredible amount of respect for those guys (Umphrey’s ); they’re great musicians.” Though the show is slotted to be excellent, Jeff had something else in mind for his day in Orlando. “I’m really excited to hit some roller coasters in the morning before sound check too, hopefully check out Harry Potter world”! Yep, The Heavy Pets are definitely all right with me!
