Rockford barely missed the 90 degree mark on Sunday to cap off an incredible weekend of weather around the area with almost 100% sunshine Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s! Even though Rockford missed its 8th 90 degree Sunday, 90 + temperatures are possible each of the next two days, and even mid-90s in some spots, depending on how much cloud cover from thunderstorms from the north. The record high in Rockford for tomorrow is 97 and we could be very close to that.Temperatures will remain near 90 all the way through next weekend.
Along with temperatures in the low to mid 90’s, the dew point will be in the upper 60s to near 70, which make it feel more like 100 to 105! People are urged to use caution if working outdoors the next few afternoons.
A backdoor cold front will push through the area late Tuesday night and overnight Wednesday switching our winds to the Northeast cooling areas closest to Lake Michigan and giving us our first chance of rain in almost a week. The front will only cool our temperatures a couple degrees from the mid-90s to near 90. A front could stall near us toward the end of the work week and into the holiday weekend. Temperatures through the extended forecast period are to remain above normal and be near or exceed 90 degrees straight through next weekend, just in time for Labor Day!
