The Healthy Party Girl - 2012

There’s a New Breed of Party Girls in The World Who Are Healthy, Fit, & Having The Time of Their Lives!

Healthy Party Girls (and guys) are people who enjoy life, exercise daily, eat healthy, & drink...in moderation.

As documented in the Party Girl Diet, a strong body of research shows that drinking red wine (and/or alcohol) in moderation can actually be a healthy lifestyle choice.

Resrveratrol, the anti-oxidant found in the skin of the red grape is believed to increase HLD – the good cholesterol.   It also offers anti-clotting properties that help prevent the blood platelets from sticking together.

Red wine aficionados’ will be happy to know that there is strong evidence to support the following statement:

“The risk of heart disease in people who drink moderate amounts of alcohol – an average of one drink for women and two drinks for men per day – is lower than in nondrinkers.”

The key is to know how many servings of alcohol is okay on a daily and/or weekly basis.

Below are the NIAAA (National Institutes for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) Guidelines for what constitutes "Low Risk" Alcohol Consumption:

Women - Up to 7 glasses of wine or servings of alcohol a week. (1 glass of wine or 1 serving of alcohol a day and no more than 3 drinks on any given day)

Men - 7 - 14 glasses of wine or servings of alcohol a week (1 - 2 glasses of wine or 1 - 2 servings of alcohol a day and no more than 4 drinks on any given day).

If you find yourself overdoing it in the alcohol department on occasion - check out the KCOY News Segment originally airing live CBS 12 and FOX 11 find out about The Party Girl Diet's Morning After Mocktail™ ~ an anti-oxidant infused elixir to replace vitamins lost through over-alcohol consumption.

"Everything in moderation" is the message here...and it is important to balance your intake of food and drink with daily exercise in order to maintain your current weight or to lose weight depending on your weight management goals.

The New Year is the perfect time to explore new and fun ways to build more exercise into your daily life.  While hitting the gym is always an option, getting outdoors can mix things up and give you a change of scenery.  Try hiking with a buddy, mountain biking, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding!

Research documented in The Party Girl Diet shows just adding as little as a 10-minute walk to your daily routine offers valuable health benefits!

If you want to keep your workouts indoors – yoga and Pilates offer stress management benefits in addition to a workout, and if you really want to shake things up…try pole dancing for fun and fitness!

The idea is when you consistently try new activities you will keep things interesting and continuously challenge yourself!  It’s also important to note that research shows it only takes about 21 days for an activity (good or bad) to become a habit.

So whether you start taking a new class at the gym, add a 10-minute walk to your day, or get into that extreme sport you’ve always wanted to check out – by making it your goal to do something NEW in 2012 for 3 weeks you will have a healthy, new habit, and be on the road to a healthier, happier, & fitter NEW YOU!
