Virginia Madsen as Sara Campbell
The film, The Haunting in Connecticut, stars eight cast members, some new to the film genre, others not. The film's premise is allegedly from a "true" story of a family's encounter with the paranormal.
The story was featured in the book In a Dark Place: The Story of a True Haunting by Ray Garton. There was also a documentary about it by the same name as the film, A Haunting in Connecticut on TLC."
I am not trying to give many tips to the story line, one can check out the links for that, just giving an idea as to the actors and acting skills that were brought on board for this horror/thriller.
Virginia Madsen heads the cast along with Kyle Gallner, Elias Koteas, Amanda Crew, Martin Donovan, Sophi Knight, Ty Wood and Erik J. Berg.
Madsen is an American actress who came to fame during the 1980s. The majority of films she has been in have always been the kind aimed at a teenage audience.
During the 2000s Madsen became known for the film Sideways. Her beginnings in acting was as a thespian. She assisted her brother in magic shows. Later she attended the Ted Liss Acting Studio in Chicago and Harand Camp Adult Theater Seminar in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Speaking about Liss, Madsen has said:
I had wanted to join his class since I was 12. It was well worth the wait, because I don't think I could have got that sort of training anywhere else, especially in the United States...I always wanted to make a real career out of acting."
Amanda Crew, Wendy in the film, is a Canadian film and television actress. She began her career in the entertainment industry by training in dance early on and then in acting by the fourth grade when she got the lead role in a musical. Immediately three agents contacted her, and she has been acting ever since.
A few of Amanda's film "ventures" have been in Life As We Know It, Smallville, Final Destination 3 and She's the Man. Her professional acting training has been at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, the Tarlington Training and the Carousal Theatre School.
One hint about the house that Sara, Madsen, rents, is that they say,
The house turns out to be a former funeral home."
