Carter Caves State Resort Park, near Olive Hill, invites visitors to its 11th anniversary of the Carter Caves Haunted Trail on the October 11 and 12 and again October 18 and 19, 2013.
The walk through the quarter-mile wooded trail will thrill, scare, and entertain those who dare venture out in the dark. Past haunted trail “survivors” have rated Carter Caves Haunted Trail to be among the best haunted attractions in the region.
Admission is $8.00 per person and is not recommended for young children. Tickets can be purchased each night at the Carter Caves Public Pool from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Transportation to and from the trail head will be provided by the park. Concessions will also be available.

Carter Caves State Resort Park was established in 1946 and, as the name suggests, caves are a big part of the park. Bat Cave is the largest of the caves at the park and is the hibernation location to an estimated 40,000 Indiana bats. Bat Cave is only open to tours in the summer but X Cave and Cascade Cave tours are available year round.
Carter Caves is also home to the Lewis Caveland Lodge. Constructed with native fieldstone, the lodge has 28 rooms, each with a private balcony or patio overlooking the surrounding woodlands. The lodge also has a dining room, Tierney’s Cavern Restaurant, with seating for 100.
Other facilities at the park include cottages, campground, picnic areas, golf course, miniature golf, and a large outdoor pool.
Carter Caves is less than 150 from Metro Louisville via I-64. From exit 161 near Olive Hill, follow the signs to the park. Detailed directions can be found using Google Maps.
