The up-and-coming local rock band The Hard Luck is excited to play another set at Gluek’s restaurant and bar tonight. The band, consisting of five members from Minneapolis, has frequented Gluek’s stage several times in the last few months. The Hard Luck draws quite a crowd, even with the small and intimate space provided by the bar.
They have gained popularity in Minneapolis thanks to their winning title at the Cities 97 battle of the bands contest, according to www.thehardluck.com/bio. The band has also released a four-song EP on iTunes entitled “Grind,” which was released last year. Their feel-good songs are sure to keep tonight’s patrons swaying and singing along. If you haven’t heard of The Hard Luck yet, it may be worth your while to listen to some of their music.
The Hard Luck’s EP song “Mystery” contains vocals reminiscent of Amos Lee’s soulful rock sound, while the song “Grind” feels more like a true rock song, with prominent guitar to back up the strong vocals. The band does, however, like to play a handful of cover songs for their Gluek’s performances. So if you want to go see this band tonight, but aren’t familiar with their personal songs, you are sure to hear a few classic favorites.
Gluek’s is located on North 6th street in downtown Minneapolis, across from Kieran’s Irish Pub and Target Center. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Gluek’s hosts a live band for a concert, and boasts “the best live local and national bands around.” The music schedule can be found on the website here: http://www.glueks.com/live-music.html.
