The anticipation of getting started has finally ended for the dock workers at the Crescent City harbor. We visited with our friends at Pacific Coast Seafoods as the load their boats with crab pots to be set off shore. There four cranes were busy loading their fleet of over a dozen boats as they come in and out. Dillon Lee Rydel one of the dock workers said he started the day at 7 AM and will be working until 2 AM. By the end of they day they will have loaded over 1700 crab pots onto the boats. He is doing this job in hopes of getting a spot on one of the boats to be a crab fisherman.
The dock workers are working really hard so the boats can bring in the crab on the 15th. It is not always about the fisherman. None of it would happen without these hard working individuals because in just a few days the boats will return and the off loading begins. Team work between the boats and the dockworkers is essential to a great season.
