The Spring 2012 season of the Hamilton Book & Movie Club is beginning on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. The theme of the season is “Upstate New York”.

The selected books/movies for the Spring 2012 (April-June) season include on April 26 Nobody’s Fool – Novel by Richard Russo. The 1994 film stars Bruce Willis, and Paul Newman as Sully, whohas been doing the wrong thing triumphantly for fifty years. Divorced from his own wife and carrying on with another man’s, saddled with a bum knee and friends who make enemies redundant, Sully now has a new problem to cope with: a long-estranged son in danger of following in his father’s footsteps. 

On May 31 Ironweed – Novel by William Kennedy - This 1987 film starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. 
Francis Phelan, ex-big-leaguer, part-time gravedigger, full-time bum with the gift of gab, is back in town. He left Albany twenty-two years earlier. Now he’s on his way back to the wife and home he abandoned, haunted at every corner by the ghosts of his violent life.

On June 28The Last of the Mohicans – The novel by James Fenimore Cooper became a 1992 film starring Daniel Day-Lewisand os Coopersclassic tale of frontier scout Hawkeye/Natty Bumppo and his friendship with a Mohican warrior Chingachgook. The two risk their lives to escort a pair of sisters through the dangerous and hostile wilderness of what is now the Mohawk Valley.

The Book & Movie Club offers two subscription plans. Full Members will receive their own copy of all three books for the season, free admission to the screening of all three films, and dinner during the three after-movie discussions, for a one-time fee of $51/season. Basic Members receive free admission to the film screenings, and dinner during the after-movie discussion, for a one-time fee of $27/season.
