The grumpy cat sensation

Grumpy Cat is here. He was born on April 4, 2012 and christened Tardar Sauce. He is an Internet Sensation and known the world round for the grumpy expression on his sweet, feline face.

Grumpy Cat is a female, in case you weren’t sure. Her proud owner, Tabatha Bundesen tells us that her undyingly grumpy-looking face is because of feline dwarfism.

Grumpy Cat's popularity launched off from a picture posted to the social news website Reddit created by her brother Bryan on September 22, 2012. It was turned into an image macro with grumpy captions. "The Official Grumpy Cat" on social media, Face book has well over o5 million likes and is growing in number every day. Grumpy Cat was even featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal on May 30, 2012 and also on the October 7, 2012 issue of the New York Magazine.

The Bundesens say that Tardar Sauce's face appears grumpy not only because of feline dwarfism but also because of an under bite. Grumpy and her brother Pokey were born to normal parents with flat faces, bubble eyes, and a short tails Tardar Sauce is peewee and has hind legs that a wee bit unusual. Paradoxically, Tardar Sauce is tranquil and very nice—it is Pokey that has the grumpy disposition.

Photo sessions are once a week, and handling by strangers is restricted. At SXSW Tardar Sauce made limited just two-hour appearances each day.

Ben Lashes is Grumpy Cat's manager. Mr. Lashes also represents Keyboard Cat and Nyan Cat. Tabatha Bundesen took a leave of absence from her job at Red Lobster to manage Grumpy Cat’s schedule and Bryan, her brother manages her website, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter

Licensed merchandise such as t0ahirts, mugs, calendars and books are sold on the website and also at retail outlets such as Hot Topics, Wal Mart, and Hastings. By May of 2013, Grumpy Cat had earned over six figures. Grumpy Cat even has iced coffee called "Grumppuccino"

MSNBC named Grumpy Cat 2012's most influential feline. Grumpy Cat also won first prize Golden Kitty at the second annual Internet Cat Video Film Festival. Grumpy Cat achieved a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Friskies as well...

Grumpy Cat appeared in episodes of “Will Kitty Play with It”—a well watched Friskies YouTube game show. Friskies paid for Tardar Sauce’s flying first class, a private hotel room with a king sized bed, a chauffer, a personal assistant an unlimited supplies of Friskies cat food, also bottle water. The car used to take Tardar Sauce around was a BMX X5 with tinted windows. Tardar Sauce traveled to New York City promoting the show and even appeared on Good Morning America and Anderson Live. She visited Time Magazine for a photo shoot and interviewed for Forbes.

"Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever," is to be debuted that Christmas season. Tim Hill and Jeff Morris will pen the script.
