Journalist Christine Pelisek exposes the unsolved serial killings of several African-American women in the Los Angles area.

'The Grim Sleeper,' a take on the name 'The Grim Reaper,' is based on Black serial killer Lonnie Franklin and news journalist Christine Pelisek.

Lonnie Franklin shot and strangled at least 10 Black women in Los Angeles in the 1980's, then again in 2008. News journalist Christine Pelisek broke the story in LA Weekly in 2008 based on an interview with victim and sole survivor Enietra Washington.

Police say it was DNA evidence that linked Lonnie Franklin Jr. to the killings.

Lonnie David Franklin was arrested in 2010 for the murders. The community was shocked that Franklin was responsible for the killings.
