Christmas has come and gone, and after the holidays it's easy to forget the Nativity story, the story that is the begging of the Gospels. But for Billy Tucci , it's a story that needs to be shared at all time of the year.
Although he touched upon Christian themes such as faith and forgiveness in his hit book 'Shi', 'A Child is Born' is born is a beautifully rendered and produced retelling of the birth of Christ taken from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
Mr. Tucci's inspiration to produce the graphic novelization of the Nativity began is when a family member fought a battle with cancer. Reassessing what was important to him and his family, he turned his hope and faith back towards God, and decided to produce this book.
The book itself was researched with the help of Biblical scholars and the artwork, coloring, and production is a rival to high profile publishers such as DC and Marvel comics.
Although touched upon, and told in comic book form before, the approach to this graphic depiction of the story is the book is produced not as telling a traditional Christmas story for seasonal sales, but a heart felt labor of love and faith.
Billy also felt that with all the turmoil and upheaval going on in the country, that a book that celebrated the core of Christmas and was in defiance of the commercialism and politically correct stance on the faith based aspects of the holiday.
This past September, the book was released in hardcover edition sold through Barnes & Noble bookstores. The book is to be distributed through Lifeway and Christian Family Bookstores later this year.
