The Greater Houston Linux Users is having its monthly meeting on May 3rd.
The Linux 101 meeting is for anyone who is getting started with Linux, or thinking about starting to use Linux.
Switching to Linux requires a bit of relearning, just as switching from Windows XP to Windows 7 requires some relearning. But once you get started, Linux is easier to use than Windows. If you think you have to compile software yourself or learn to use the command line, then you haven't seen Linux in the last few years.
Discussions are directed by the questions of the participants, and typically include:
- How to get started with Linux
- Which distributions are best for beginners
- Installing Linux while still keeping Windows available
- How to install software (it's easier than Windows!)
- How to get support
More information can be found at the meet up website.
Hope to see you there
