Every day it seems like there are more and more articles in the news about Christmas being under attack in the United States. Is there really a war on Christmas or is it just posturing? After all, the United States is a diverse society that has long embraced the religious faiths of all people.
The problem is that while this nation was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, Many do not subscribe to those beliefs. Unfortunately those people suffer from a terminal case of the entitlement mentality and believe that the public square should be scrubbed of every mention of anything Christian (They are good with Islam though, after all that's cultural.)
The holiday itself is still called "Christmas" officially and is still a recognized holiday at both the state and federal levels. So what is the problem with Christmas and where is the hypocrisy?
All of these people who insist on 'happy holidays' greetings, 'holiday' trees instead of Christmas trees and get all bent out of shape over the mere thought of religiously themed songs or plays happen to be the same people who run right to the bank to cash their Christmas bonus checks. The have no trouble taking Christmas as a day off or, if they have to work that day, accepting holiday pay.
Yes, those die hard liberal-minded individuals who want all reference to religion removed from their sight, are fine with it as long as there is money attached. That's interesting when you consider that the season is supposed to be all about giving.
So I propose that everyone who is anti-Christmas should go to work on December 25th. As though it was a regular workday and refuse any holiday pay. They should refuse their Christmas bonus as well. Or at the very least donate it to charity. They should also make sure and avoid any Christmas parties and certainly should be giving and receiving Christmas gifts.
That will probably not happen. However the next time one of your liberal friends who demands Christmas be relegated to the privacy of your home gets their feathers ruffled, you might ask them about their plans. Maybe you can help them by less of a hypocrite.
If nothing else, pray for them and wish them a Merry Christmas.
