'The Great Beauty,' gets Oscar nomination today for Best Foreign Film

Early this morning the nominations for the 86th Academy Awards were announced by Chris Hemsworth and the President,Cheryl Boone Isaacs. For the Best Foreign Language Film, "The Great Beauty," was nominated. Last Sunday, the film won a Golden Globe in the same category. "The Great Beauty," was directed by Paolo Sorrentino.

The film is going up against four other countries, Belgium for their film, "The Broken Circle Breakdown," Denmark for their film, "The Hunt," Cambodia for their film, "The Missing Picture" and Palestine for their film, "Omar."

The film has brought back Italian cinema to the Academy Awards, the last time a film was nominated for an Oscar was in 2010 and it was "I Am Love." Which that year Italy lost out to the Denmark feature film, "In a Better World." So that could happened this year to since, "The Hunt," is another critic favorite.

The Academy Awards air on March 2nd on ABC.
