The Great Backyard Bird Count is almost over, but you can still participate. All you need to do is register, count birds for 15 minutes or more, and submit your observations. It’s that easy.

According to their website, the Great Backyard Bird Count was “launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, ... [it] was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time.”

This year, the bird count is taking place Feb 14th -17th. The website has helpful documents and videos to help novices get started including downloadable instructions, how-to videos, online bird guides, and birding apps.

If you’re a bird lover or enthusiast, join in now for the last two days of the Great Backyard Bird Count.
