The Grammy Awards were great this year. Justin Timberlake fans were waiting for his return to music. He took a seven year hiatus from recording and focused on an acting career. Timberlake appeared in The Social Network and Friends with Benefits. He was recently married to Jessica Biel in October of 2012.
"I'm just excited to get on stage again and play live." Timberlake told Ryan Seacrest in an interview before his debut at the Grammy Awards. The performance included his new single "Suit and Tie" with Jay-Z joining in the performance from his seat in the audience. He debut a new song called "Pusha Love Girl" and a new song "Mirrors" debut on the internet. All three singles have me curious about the new CD entitled The 20/20 Experience.
In other Grammy news. A memo went out to attendees requesting the attire for the Awards ceremony not to be revealing, including no showing of the breast nipple or the curve of the buttocks. There was a sweet but short dedication to the legendary Bob Marley. Beyonce won Best Traditional R&B Performance (Love On Top), Miguel won Best R&B song (Adorn) Frank Ocean won for Best Urban Contemporary Album (Channel Orange), Drake won for Best Rap Album (Take Care), Jay-Z and Kanye West won Best Rap Song for Ni***s In Paris. LL Cool J was great as a host. He was the closing act of the night with Chuck D and Travis Barker.
President and CEO Neil Portnow, along with Ryan Seacrest and Justin Timberlake announced a new award in honor of music teachers, "The Music Educator Award." There will be an award next year to acknowledge outstanding classroom music teachers from kindergarten through college. This is a partnership with The Grammy Foundation and the Recording Academy.
