On September 23, 2010, Grace Works Pictures and Calvary Pictures released their film The Grace Card at the Projecting Hope Charlotte Film Festival.  The film, produced by Hollywood producer, director and writer turned Christian, Howard Klausner, was then released throughout the United States on February 25, 2011.  Klausner is well known for his work as co-writer on the film Space Cowboys.  The Grace Card introduced many newcomers to the silver screen as David G. Evans made his writing, production and directorial debut with the film.

The inspirational film’s tagline is “Everything can change in an instant…and take a lifetime to unravel,” and tells the story of grief stricken police officer, Mac McDonald, who lost his son in an accident.  Viewers are brought into McDonald’s journey as the rage he feels not only takes over his relationship with God but permeates through all areas of his life.  McDonald is faced with his anger when he is partnered with Sam Wright, who is not only another officer but serves in the ministry part time.  According to Graceworks Pictures, Evans’ production company, the film’s theme is described as, “Every day, we have the opportunity to rebuild relationships and heal deep wounds by extending and receiving God’s grace.  Offer The Grace Card … and never underestimate the power of God’s love.”

The Grace Card features Michael Joiner as Mac McDonald, Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr. as George Wright, Michael Higgenbottom as Sam Wright, Dawntoya Thomason as Debra Wright, Rob Erickson as Blake McDonald, Cindy Hodge ad Dr. Vines and Joy Moore as Sara McDonald.

David Evans is a long time member of Calvary Church, located in Cordova, Tennessee and is a successful ophthalmologist.  He has produced the church’s large scale “Passion Play” for over fifteen years.  Graceworks Pictures is an extension of Calvary Church.  Considering Evans is an eye doctor and this is his first stint at an independent film, his landing of Louis Gossett Jr., is an incredible plus.
