The Gospel Corner: Erica Campbell says 'it's time to flip it around'

Erica Atkins-Campbell has been singing with her sister, Tina Atkins-Campbell, for more than a decade and is ready to flip the script a bit. The singer recently discussed her plans to launch a solo career in coming months with Sister 2 Sister, telling the magazine that she is more than ready for change.

"You can expect music from me, possibly a children's book. I'm excited about doing something different. You gotta flip it up every now and again. It's been 12 years, so it's time to flip it around," said the singer.

Although excited about the possibility of doing big things on her own, Erica admitted that she's a bit uncertain about what lies ahead. "Of course there's anxiety with us stepping out to do different things. We've been joined at the hip for the last 12 years, and so now we're taking chances and doing different stuff." The artist added, "I think [Tina] wants to just take a break and breathe. We've just been so busy. We never stop, ever, baby after baby, album after album, show after show, and I think everyone just needs to recharge and breathe. So, that's what we're going to do."

Erica and Tina made their debut as Gospel duo 'Mary Mary' in 2000. The sisters have picked up several GRAMMY awards since then and have been credited with contributing much to the urban revolution taking place in Gospel music.
