'The Good Wife': Josh Charles dishes on killing his character Will Gardner

Will Gardner’s last breath was taken on “The Good Wife” on Sunday night. In a surprising twist of the plotline, the fans watched as the successful attorney was gunned down in a courtroom and killed. While most viewers were shocked, others were outraged as the performances of Josh Charles every week had people turning in to watch the drama. According to Just Jared on Monday, Josh Charles hopes that fan keep turning in long after he leaves the show.

“But I think it’s going to send the show in a new direction and it’s going to just keep being fantastic,” said Josh Charles about his decision to leave the show. Acknowledging that the challenge of leaving won’t be appreciated by everyone, the actor felt it was time to depart.

Fans should be thanking their lucky stars that Josh Charles didn’t leave last year when he was contemplating the decision. Instead the actor made a choice to return for several episodes this season to allow his character a proper departure from the show. Saying goodbye to each character, Will Gardner actually had several innocent scenes sharing appreciation of the cast before the final shooting scene.

With Will Gardner’s departure, “The Good Wife” will refocus the story on the main characters and how they deal with the grief. It’s going to set the tone of the legal drama in a whole new way!
