The Good News and the other news: Some fools never learn, Part 1

Deuteronomy 31: 21 declares, "And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware."

Well the results are in and it looks as though I finally have the answer to the question I posed some time back. "Yes, Americans are really that dumb."

At the very least, Hoosiers are apparently that dumb and I am so very convinced of this, I am seriously considering moving my family to another State. My wife is a native of Kentucky, where taxes are cheaper, gun control means hitting what you aim at and people generally vote with their consciences, not with their pocket books, and I am a Bluegrass fan and horse lover, so Southland here we come.

Mr. Dan Coats is the official Republican candidate who will vie for against our own 8th District Representative, Evansville native and former Vanderburgh County Sheriff Brad Ellsworth for the US Senate Seat which Evan Bayh will vacate at the end of his current term. Likewise, Mr. Todd Young will by representing the party against Representative Baron Hill in the November election.

All over the internet I keep reading statements from supposedly conservative journalists and bloggers, the sum total of which amounts to the notion that the time has come for conservative Hoosiers to pull ourselves together and admit that we would be better off with Mr. Young and Mr. Coats in office than with Mr. Hill or Mr. Ellsworth there.

I must beg to differ. While I am a firm believer that Mr. Ellsworth was born an idiot and was then dropped on his head several times, at least with him in office we would have a semi-conservative who is satisfied to hide from his constituency and debate issues via e-mail, never taking any real action.

Mr. Coats, on the other hand, is a closet liberal who, as I have previously reported, spent the majority of the last ten years in the proverbial bed with South American dictator, Hugo Chavez. If he would sell his services to the likes of a bloodthirsty thug such as Chavez and lobby on his company’s behalf on Capitol Hill, whom would he be willing to represent while supposedly serving the people of Indiana and exactly how much money would he charge for doing so?

Mr. Young is as crooked as the day is long and, as I pointed out in a recent column series, he is the political twin of President Barack Hussein Obama. At the very least I can say that Mr. Hill is relatively honest concerning his underhanded dealings, whereas Mr. Young continues to hide his from anyone who is not able to spend countless hours digging into his background.

I have not given much coverage to the situation here in the 8th District, because frankly there has not been a truly conservative candidate on the ballot in my lifetime. Several Evansville natives have expressed the opinion that such is merely the fact of the matter and that we have no choice but to vote for one of the candidates which is given to us by the establishment.

However, I believe that such thinking is short sighted, even a programmed response. The fact is that the two party system is a sham and Tuesday’s primary election proves it.
