The tree of Biblical Creationism yields a lot of good, life giving fruits. The Book of Genesis with its account of creation, provides the real foundation of true science, true history, true marriage, and true education.
Consider the biblical record of Adam and Eve with God's provision concerning marriage (Genesis 2:18-25). It is the basis of the most important of all human institutions, the home, and the family. The responsibility of parents for the education of their children, particularly their training in the truths and commandments of God's Word. God said that He created a woman for the man (Adam), when He took one of Adam's ribs and created a "woman" for him. "And the LORD God caused a great sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a women, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh : she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of the man " (Genesis 2:21-23).
True science and true history is also to be developed around the truth of God's Word, particularly the truth of creation. Many great founding fathers of science (Bacon, Newton, Pasteur, Herschel) testified of God and gave Him the glory.
True history starts with the factual record of creation beginning in Genesis. Genesis 1:1-2:3, gives us the account that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. This is also spelled out plainly and clearly in Exodus 20:11, "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Man's nature has been so constructed that this is what he requires for health and efficiency.
The pattern of the six day work week followed by a day of rest, that is observed all over the world, does not have any astronomical basis. Earth's rotation is based on 24 hour day of revolving on its axis. The lunar month is tied to the orbit of the moon around the earth. The year is based on the earth traveling around the sun. But the week has no such connection with these astronomical events. Where, then, is its origin. In the creation week itself !
People who reject the literal creation week still practice this in there daily lives. There is many unbelieving scientists who have recognized the importance of the weekly cycle of work and rest. Here is a quote by Bertel Falk, " The seven-day week is an ancient institution. And it is a significant one... It is thanks to ancient wisdom that this psychological understanding of physical needs are met" (Bertel Falk, "For Six Days Shalt Thou Labor", New Scientist, vol. 125, march 31, 1990, pp. 68-69).
Man has attempted to change the length of the week without success. Two Revolutions, French (1789) and Russian (1917) both tried to lengthen the work week, hoping thereby to get rid of the theological implications of the seven-day week. Both had to abandon their experiment after a few years because human nature and physiology could not cope with it. Thus, they inadvertently confirmed both the importance of the fourth commandment and the truth of the biblical account of Creation.
True education was once taught in school when they used the Bible for teaching children along with reading, writing, and arithmetic. The Bible was part of the school assignments but now the Bible is not used in the public school system today. The Bible produced sound speech in children which is lacking today. It produced good fruits because it grew from strong roots of the Word of God. "In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works; in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerety, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part maybe ashamed, having no evil thing to say to you" (Titus 2:7-8).
To truly receive the good fruits of Creation we must believe and receive by faith in the One who wrote the written Word : The Holy Bible, (King James Version), the Living Word : The Lord Jesus Christ.
