Denver is a wonderfully active and social city; according to MSN, Denver ranks 9th in the United States as one of the healthiest cities in America. With a wide range of activities to choose from it is always nice to throw something new and fresh into the mix.
The Gin Mill, 2041 Larimer Street, has realized this and came up with a great idea that combines an energetic lifestyle with socializing. Every Tuesday in the Fall and Winter the Gin Mill holds Boot Camp at 6PM. It is workout club that is designed for all fitness levels in order to get participants in tip top shape for ski season or to just maintain the fitness levels of non-skiers.
According to Gin Mill owner Jonathan Weaver, the workout combines warm up runs with exercises focused on adding strength to the legs and the core. This is the first year of the Boot Camp series, which draws between ten to twenty people each week. Jonathan is looking to get more of a following for the Boot Camp.
Subsequent to the workout segment, everyone gathers at the Gin Mill to enjoy a well deserved treat. They feature $2 Miller Lite Drafts for everyone that worked up a sweat. Karaoke gets underway around 8PM to kick this social gathering up a notch (or a note).
In the springtime (mid April) after a significant warm up, Boot Camp transitions into a Running Club. Participants can choose from three different distance groups: 3, 5 and 11 miles. The Running Club has more of a following, as it pulls in anywhere from 30 to 50 people each week. Whether you are looking to add variety to your workout plan or just get out and meet new people with similar interests, come check out the Boot Camp or Running Club. You won’t be sorry.
