The Ghost of Kindergarten Past

See also

In my day the children learned left and right,
While the numbers and letters they did write.

They finger painted and played with clay,
And began socialization on the first day.

There were songs and marches and dancing,
And naps to take when they finished prancing.

They read if they were ready,
Fun while learning was constant and steady.

We prepared for the first grade in classes of half day,
We learned yet had time to play.

Kindergarten is where I learned everything I need to know,
I learned and learned and continued to grow.

A very sad story is Kindergarten today,
Forced to learn when we need to play.

Tests, they are giving tests to kids of five,
They might as well test them in the womb when they are barely alive.
