Guys are a different type of person because, well – they aren’t always the tidiest people. Chances are if a guy is single, there may be spots around his home that need sprucing. Don’t get us wrong, quite a few men surprise us with their ability to make things sleek and clean. Should this not sound like you or a man you know, keep on reading.
The television area in a home can get a ton of attention and sometimes too much if it looks a hot mess. Exposed cable cords and gaming consoles are just two of the eyesores that impact the area in a bad way.
The days of living sloppy are over. Especially in a place like New York City where men set the standard of swag, your home needs to be a top reflection of who you are and what you are about. Check out these pointers on creating an entertaining area that will make you proud. Use this as a springboard to clean up mess and clear out clutter.
{HOW TO TIDY UP THE TV AREA}
1. Choose a console with storage. Find a TV cabinet or storage combination unit that has ample space for your movies, games and music. Choose a size that is appropriate for your space.
2. Wall mount your television. If you can mount your television on the wall, that can free up space for other things on the console surface. It may even make the screen a wee more visible from other areas around the house. Just make sure you conceal the cords as best as possible.
Can’t mount your TV? That’s okay, utilize your surface space and remove everything else for a clean look.
3. Add wall shelves. Most guys have more than one movie and video game. Wall units provide extra storage to catalog your collection without having to sort through boxes in the attic.
4. Use a cable box organizer. Say goodbye to those pesky cords with a cable organizer that will house those horrible cables, surge protectors and anything else that can take up space near your television. If you use your television area for gaming and your home office, you may want to pick up one or two extras.
5. Make a bar cart bi-functional. Should there be some extra space on your bar cart, use it to store frequently viewed movies or played video games. If your bar cart is one wheels, push it past each guest for a libation and their vote on what to watch.
