The Gearbox Union hosts ConQuest at Sci-Fi Valley Con

If you're a fan of any kind of speculative fiction and live near Altoona, Pennsylvania, Sci-Fi Valley Con should be part of your plans this weekend (June 27-29). See vehicles from movies such as Jurassic Park and Back to the Future. Take your selfie with the Stargate or TARDIS. With over 140 exhibitors on the upper and lower floor of the Jaffa Shrine, panels going on all weekend and other special events, it might be challenging to figure out where to start

Tables L5-L7
Gearbox Union

The Gearbox Union would like to offer their “Mega Table” L5-L7 on the lower floor of the Jaffa Shrine as the perfect place to begin. Why? Because they have a quest for you, a ConQuest.

For a $5 donation to the Child’s Play Charity, you’ll receive five raffle tickets for the fabulous prizes available along with a ‘quest log’ card. On the card is a list of other participating tables at the convention, each of which will reward you for visiting their table and completing their task. For each quest completed, upon returning to our table you’ll receive one additional raffle ticket to win even more prizes!

Your quest, should you choose to accept it, may be to answer a question, say a secret word, or tell a joke. (Some of them are very creative.) Not only will this encourage you to meet some of the vendors who donated prizes, but it will also be fun. Best of all, the money goes to the Child's Play charity, a group dedicated to brightening the lives of children in over 70 hospitals worldwide. Last year, the GBU raised about $350 for the charity, and they hope to blow that number out of the water this year. With your help, they can!

Once you have your ConQuest card, be sure to stop by The Geek Girl Project's table (right behind the GBU at K7) and say hi.

Sci-Fi Valley Con hours: Friday, 2 pm. – 9 pm, Saturday 10am. – 8 pm, Sunday 10 am. – 5 pm.

A three-day pass is only $20.
