'The Gabby Douglas Story’ to premiere on Lifetime

With the 2014 Olympics almost upon us movie fans will get to see the dedication, preparation and sacrifice it takes to make the games when Lifetime premieres the inspiring story of Olympian Gabby Douglas this weekend. “The Gabby Douglas Story” which airs Saturday on the network will recount the history making journey of Douglas who went on to become the first African-American gymnast to win gold in the All-Around competition at the 2012 Olympic games.

The television movie stars Regina King, S. Epatha Merkerson, Imani Hakim, Sydney Mikala and Brian Tee. Douglas who also appears in the film as herself is listed as a co-executive producer on the project.

“The Gabby Douglas Story” debuts Saturday Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime with an encoure scheduled for Sunday Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. ET.
