Energy flows through your body from head-to-toe into the ground, and it brings an awareness of the body and of your surroundings. It’s amazing how the simple changes in your life can bring a great deal of mindfulness to your world. Such as going barefoot and changing the way you walk.
Walking in shoes is the way civilized man walks and foxwalking is compared to the way the Indian’s walked. Like an astronaut plopping large boots along unknown terrain, the surface is foreign territory, and specimens are bagged and taken back to the laboratory to be studied. Foxwalking is the way you would walk if you were trying to be quiet.
Foxwalking provides a sense of balance
Walking heel-to-toe in shoes is jarring and pounding that sends up constant pressure and shock into the body. A man-made way of walking, not natural, adapted and learned to appear civilized and to hopefully prevent injury while wearing shoes. Shoes implore more damage than health, allowing feet to become a passive appendage.
Walking with knees slightly bent greatly decreases the stress and strain on the body, the gait of the hips change, the angle of the spine, and head also changes allowing hormones to function in a greater capacity along with all of our senses. When you step on the forefront of your foot you are stepping into your joints which will also strengthen them over the years allowing for a steadier gait with age.
Foxwalking on toe is considered suspicious movement
Women in heels do a form of foxwalking, being on toe only, but making contact with the earth by the front portion of your foot, not stomping along the way a cow does, as one does in shoes. Take the way the path looks where a cow has walked, it is a well-worn ego dynamic and the cow trods on anything in its path unawares, plants, insects, and the like, and so does a human being in a shoe. The human being thinks it’s free and doesn’t need to worry about where it walks or what it may come upon by wearing shoes.
The way a fox walks one cannot tell where the fox has been, and the fox is more aware of his surroundings able to move out of the way or raise or foot to avoid banana peels. The fox makes a connection with the earth, the person wearing a shoe with the awkward gait is disconnected.
