Hotel Palomar has always been ahead of the game with regard to its eco-friendly practices that go beyond the water and energy conservation techniques that are increasingly standard in the hotel industry. And now, they are setting the bar even higher.
The hotel announced that it will be the very first hotel in the entire state of Texas to partner with The EV Project, which installs electric vehicle chargers at local businesses. Texas is one of the first states to partner with The EV Project, with the project operational in three Texas cities. According to The EV Project website, every state in the U.S. should have participating EV Project charging stations by 2013.
Two ECOtality BlinkO Pedestal EV charging stations were installed at the hotel in August - each of which offer drivers a 240 volt AC input. Both locals and hotel guests may use the complimentary charging stations complimentary via the hotel valet. It's a great excuse to taste Chef Blythe Beck's latest culinary creations at Central 214 while your vehicle charges for free.
Dave Aasheim, ECOtality Area Manager for Texas, says that, "Consumer demand for EVs is growing in Texas..." The company is currently in the process of installing hundreds of charging stations throughout the city. After all, who said helping reducing your carbon footprint with clean transporation practices has to be hard?
To celebrate the Hotel Palomar's new charging stations, the hotel is offering a special package for electric vehicle owners that includes free valet, free charging station usage, a $30 meal credit at Central 214, a $25 discount on a spa service, a complimentary wine hour and 25 percent of the best available room rate. You must make advance reservations to reserve the package, and use the reservation code, "Blink." Rates for the EV package start at just $179 per night.
