Home brewers and craft beer lovers in the Boca Raton area will be pleased to learn that local small-batch brewer The Funky Buddha plans to expand their operation yet again this year. On the heels of their wildly successful 2011 Maple Bacon Coffee Porter release and the opening of a contiguous home brew supply store, the burgeoning young brew house has now announced plans to begin distributing beer by March of this year.
The Buddha’s brewers, who currently operate a modest 1.5 barrel system and often produce batches around the same size as the average home brewer, will use equipment at Tampa’s legendary Cigar City Brewing until upgrades are complete. According to a recently posted blog announcement, “the Funky Buddha Brewery will be a full scale production brewery in South Florida in 2012.” Fans can expect one or two of the company’s beers to arrive on shelves within the next few months, with more to come pending completion of their new system.
