The Full Moon and Saturn meet on May 14

See also

In the pre-dawn hours of May 14 Saturn will be just above a full moon. The best time to look will be around 4:45am MDT. Both will be on the western horizon.

If you are not inclined to get up at 4:45 in the morning, the pair will still be visible in the evening. Look on the eastern horizon about 8:30pm. Saturn and the Moon will not be as close together as they were in the morning, but close enough for you to easily find Saturn and possibly Mars.

Most people do not realize the Moon passes by all of the planets and many bright stars every 28 days. If you compare the position of Saturn and the Moon in the morning and evening you will see the Moon has moved away for Saturn.

Take some time to watch the Moon for several days in a row at about the same time. You can easily see the Moon move and change phase from day to day.

Wishing you clear skies
