The Oakland Raiders had another rough season in 2012. Their final record was 4-12, and it was the tenth consecutive losing season.
Bleacher Report published an article on Thursday about what players or free agents would be good to let go in the Oakland organization to get ready for next season.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour was the first advice. The 33-year-old player has missed half of the season after injuring his hamstring in week 8.
Also, the article mentioned that the player was not playing up to standard for his nice contract with Oakland. The Raiders should target a younger player for next season.
The second advice was to let go of offensive linemen Cooper Carlisle. General Manager, Reggie McKenzie, kept Carlisle to guide rookie Tony Bergstrom in the same position.
Bergstrom has had his introduction this last year, so the Raiders need to can Carlisle. Rebuilding is getting younger, and Carlisle is 35 years old.
Free safety Matt Giordano was the third advice. According to the article, Giordano did not live up to standard on the field due to his small frame.
The secondary for the Raiders was atrocious last season, and it would not hurt Oakland to hire a bigger and faster free safety for next season.
The fourth advice was to let go of offensive tackle Khalif Barnes. The article stated that Barnes did not provide enough coverage for Carson Palmer last season for the money being paid.
Barnes made a cap of 2 million last season, and it is believed that a cheaper and much faster OT can be found for next season.
Last but not least was punter Shane Lechler. The punter is considered as one of the best ever, but money talks in the end.
Lechler is making 5 million a year, and the Raiders need to downsize their funds. It is known that the Raiders have another punter that is capable of living up to the standards, Marquette King.
If Lechler decides to live large and not be loyal, the Oakland Raiders will have to let him go.
In the end, the Raiders still have much to do and change. In the meantime, the loyal Raider fans will wait and see what will be in store for next season.
