The Foundry and abstract artist Amy Barker-Wilson take you on a visual "Journey"

The Foundry Gallery’s November solo exhibition entitled “Journeys” features new work by Amy Barker-Wilson, a local abstract painter and member of the gallery. The exhibit runs from Wed November 2, 2011, through Sunday November 27, 2011. The opening reception is Friday, November 4, 2011, 6 to 8pm

Amy's works provide a sense of mystery and possibility and she invites the viewer to extend his or her own perceptual imagining along the way. Her paintings build from her experiences on journeys both in Turkey and Andalusian Spain, as well as an appreciation of traditional patterns and their architectural dynamics. They are playful, often studied and unplanned mixtures, incorporating geometric traditions and calligraphic elements among spontaneously arising mixed media of many colors and materials.  They evoke a feeling of ancient beauty and lively activity using highly saturated colors often washed out by time and sun, and a silence that pervades beyond the forms - fun, wild, and meditatively calm at the same time.
