The forgotten one - handsome, friendly shepherd waits for a chance

Pat Gregoire

Update 4/1/14: Rescued!!

Rufus, a German shepherd mix, waits behind bars at the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facility in Baldwin Park, Calif.

The handsome dog, whose age is unknown, has hopeful eyes which also reveal justifiable worry. For weeks he has been locked in his kennel run - waiting, and hoping. To date, nobody has stopped to offer him the opportunity to walk free from the building.

Rufus' Petharbor photo is of poor quality - the colors do not reveal the beauty of his lovely fur, nor the expression in his copper eyes.

Thankfully, a volunteer photographer captured Rufus' true self - his eyes seem to plead for help and reflect his fear and confusion.

Rufus has been at the facility since March 9 - according to the volunteer who took his photo, he is not in "public view." The reason why has not been revealed.

Please take a moment to network on behalf of this handsome boy - he deserves the chance for a future.
